cannot change screen resolution-help!

hi I am working on windows xp- the cpu is compaq deskpro EN and the monitor
is a flat screen Princeton.

The icons and the apperance are way too big and i am trying to make it
smaller- i went to Display / settings / screen resolution. however i cannot
drag the pointer towards better resolution. Can someone please help me, I
cannot function with this stuff being so big.

Right click on the desktop and select Properties/Settings and then change
resolution. If that won't work then you have a video card problem.

update your video adapter !! sounds to me your running without the
drivers.
