low screen resolution

Hi,

I am running XP home. the screen resolution settings have for some reason
defaulted to 640 x 480. The image is too big for the screen. I have found the
tab to change the resolution but cannot get it to move from its present
setting even by holding left mouse down. Has anyone got any suggestions
please?

Usually this happens when you don't have any display drivers installed on
your computer. Check and make sure your drivers are installed and up to
date.

Download them from another computer that is connected to Internet and
then transfer them to a media that is common to both computers...
floppy disk, cdrom, etc.

What/where *exactly* are you trying to change the settings.
ie rt click on empty desktop>properties>settings
Or in Device Manager, hardware devices check for yellow exclamation marks,
if there are any remove the device & reboot
