Cannot burn DVD+RW in Windows XP

I have tried to burn a DVD+RW disk in Windows XP but I am getting an error
message saying: "Not enough space on disk". This seems to be because Windows
is not reading the disk properly - the files are not all that big.

Is it impossible to use this disk format with XP? If I ned to buy another
type of disk to burn DVDs, which is it please? Would it be DVD-R?

What I do not understand is that the DVD player on my DELL Dimension 5000
has 'DVD+RW' stamped on it.

You need third-party software to burn to a DVD. Can't do it with XP's
native burning.

Thanks. I think I should have been more specific in my original question.

I am using third party software (Real Player) to try to burn the DVD.

As an experiment I just tried toi burn a CD-R disk using the Software - and
it worked. But it is not much use as I want pictiures as well as sound!

Are you saying I need to buy something like Roxio, Nero etc?

I'm unfamiliar with that... does it say it can burn DVDs?

Google for "DVD burning software" and see what comes up.
