Cannot browse using IE although connection is working

Hello, I can't browse websites with IE even though my internet connection is
working...I can post messages on newsgroups, send and receive email via
Outlook and can successfully ping websites.

When I try to go to a URL I just get the standard "The page cannot be
displayed" error message. Norton says I don't have any viruses, add-aware
says I don't have any spyware and I don't have firewall software running at
the moment. I have a high-speed DSL connection.

The problem used to be just intermittent but now it is good and broken.

thanks,

kristan

Control Panel \ add and remove \ internet explorer - if the option is
there, choose repair. (May also be accessed via RUN msinfo32,
depending on the type of Windows.)

It appears that XP suggests uninstalling, then reinstalling.
