Cannot boot without safemode

I have performed a repair XP and cannot boot other than in safemode looked at
boot.ini in control panel and safemode is not ticked, however safemode id
shown in the listing. Is there a way to edit bootcfg to remove this problem
please

Thanks in advance

To perform a repair be it either by using the repair console or doing a
repair install you have to boot from your XP CD.

Opps! I didn't read your post correctly.

Is the machine actually booting in safe mode or just in low resolution mode?
If the latter have you reinstalled your motherboard, sound card and video
drivers? Does Device Manager show any devices with a red cross or yellow
exclamation mark against them?

Many thanks for your response
I have not re installed any hardware
In Device Manager the Bios Manager has a yellow exclamation> > mark
It is definitely "Safemode"
The computer shuts down before the blue welcome screen.
