Cannot boot into Windows

My PC running XP HOME will not boot into Windows and
displays the message that the following file is missing or
corrupt:
<Windows root>\system 32\ntoskrnl.exe
Please reinstall a copy of the above file.

Can anyone tell me how to do this please?
