I used to be able to backup outlook no problems, But now i get this message
"Cannot copy outlook, the prossess cannot access the file, because another
process has locked a portion of that file."

I have tired to rename the backup file, move it to other dir's, I've tried
to disable Norton, all with no luck. I'm now at a loss as what to do.

Any ideas?

This usually means you not have exited Outlook completely.
Look in Task Manager to see if all Outlook processes have terminated.

The backup process only will work when I close outlook. The process ends and
i still get the same message. Could it be a serprate program like Norton
hanging things up?

The number of applications and add-ins that hold Outlook open is countless.
Are you sure all instances of Outlook terminate in the Processes Tab of Task
Manager or only the Application Tab?
