Cannot apply some notes master items to notes pages

My notes master contains a footer and a text box. The text box contains 1
line of text at the top that just says "notes" and under that I've made a few
lines for people to write their notes. I made the lines by holding down the
shift and dash keys until it draws a line accross the page and then I hit the
return key and copy & paste the line. I do that until I'm at the bottom of
the page. Now, I want to apply what's on the notes master to each notes page.
Funny thing is, I can see my page numbers but not the text box that contains
the word "notes" at the top and the lines I've drawn under it. When I am on a
notes page I apply what's on the notes master like everyone else does, format
-> notes background -> apply to all. Like I said, all I get is the page
number but not text box containg the lines. I've tried a few things but have
come up short. Why can't I see the text box? Anybody got any ideas?

The text box on the master is a placeholder; the text in it will disappear on
the actual slide or notes page.

Instead of faking lines using text, use the line drawing tool to draw them on
the notes master page directly. That should do what you want.
