cannot add network printer

I haven't been able to install an hp deskjet 880c printer
as a network printer on a machine running Win2k Server.
Printer is attached to client running Win98se & is shared.
Network connections are fine. Can install as a local
printer no problem. Other printers have installed without
hassle.

Windows 98 does not have the concept of "Additional Driver" for
automatically providing the driver to client computers with a different
operating system.

See http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/NetPrinterNoPP.htm for a possible
bypass.

Printer drivers are very idiosyncratic - what works for one may not work for
another. The "cheaper" inkjet type printers are particularly problematic -
some can not be used over the network at all (the HP 880c should work using
the technique in the web page referenced above).
