I can no longer add items to my calendar: I get the error message:
"Could not save item. Could not complete the operation. One or more
parameter values are not valid."

Have you closed (completely) Outlook and restarted? Does rebooting Windows
help?

Yes, I have gone completely out of outlook and rebooted the computer. No,
that doesn't help.

I also just found out that I cannot add email addresses to my address book.
I get the same error message about "invalid parameters".

The Address Book interface is not meant for Contact manipulation. Add
Contacts in your Contacts folder. The Address Book doesn't contain any
information.

But isn't the contact folder is WITHIN the address book?

I click address book/file/new entry/add to contact list. Then after I add
the name and email address and click "save and close", I get the error
message I first posted.

The Address Book is a virtual view of your contact folder and has no
separate physical existence.

Okay. I cannot add items to my CONTACT FOLDER then, without getting the
error message.

I've been browsing the "knowledge base" for hours, but am getting nowhere.
It is not affecting other profiles, only my main one. The knowledge base
suggested creating another profile. But then all my addresses, appointments
etc are still in the old one.

Configure the new profile to use the old profile's information store.

More head scratching....

I tried to do what you mentioned. I went to the knowledge base and I was
able to transfer my "contacts" .pst stuff over to the new profile. I renamed
the folder "mail and contact items" and I removed the other one which was
named "personal folder"; However, I cannot recreate the address books with
it. When I click on the address book, it doesn't give me an option to use
those addresses in my new contact folders. Seems it is going back to the new
contact folder in the new profile. (which, of course, is empty)

Is there a way just to copy the old address book from one profile to another?

Thanks,
Jo

Whoo hoo, One problem solved, another still existing. I was able to find the
answer to the address book problem by using Contacts/properties/address
book/show this folder as an email address book.

HOWEVER, I still am unable to add appointments to the calendar. I no
longer get the "invalid parameter" error message, though. Now, I simply get
"Could not Save Item". I tried going through the "New" tab to add an
appointment that way, but when I hit "new appointment", I get no response at
all. I checked my other profiles, and I am unable to add appointments to
those calendars either, getting the same "could not save item" error message.

I've searched the knowledge base at length, but so far have been unable to
find the answer to this specific problem. Any assistance anyone could give
would be most appreciated. I really would like to have the function of my
calendar back again. (and the 6 hours I've been trying to fix this of my
life back, too!)

Thank you,
Jo
