Cannot activate my office xp for teachers/students on my 2nd comp.

I have a desktop comp. Purchased office xp standard for teachers and
students. Just purchased a laptop and wanted to put the software on my
laptop - however, it will not allow me to activate it on this computer. Is
there a way around this?

How many licenses did you purchase?

If you purchase only 1 license (most retail packages have only 1 license),
you can only install on one PC.

If this is the case, you need to buy another license.

BTW, you posted in the wrong newsgroup. This newsgroup is for Microsoft
Access, a database application, not general computer "access".

To add some to Van's answer, check the End User License Agreement (EULA) in
your teachers and students version. I'm not sure about this version, but my
full version of Office XP Professional includes the following statement in
the EULA:

"General License Grant to Install and Use Software Product. You may install
and use one copy of the Software Product on a single computer, device,
workstation, terminal, or other digital electronic or analog device
("Device"). You may make a second copy of the Software Product and install it
on a portable Device for the exclusive use of the person who is the primary
user of the first copy of the Software Product. A license for the Software
Product may not be shared."

In other words, if you are the primary user of your laptop, you are allowed
to install a second copy for your exclusive use. If you have already exceeded
your allowed usage (again, check the specific EULA in the Teacher's and
Student's version), then you will need to either remove the copies from the
affected machines, or purchase additional licenses. You can call Microsoft
and explain to them that you have removed a previously installed copy from a
different PC. If they believe you, then they'll likely give you the
activation code you need.
