Cannot access XP Computer from Vista

I have a wireless network in my home with two computers. #1 is my desktop
which is running Windows Vista Premium and is directly connected to my
router. #2 is my laptop running Windows XP Home and connects wirelessly.

Each can access the internet fine. Each can see the other computer on the
network fine. From my XP laptop I am able to access all the public folders
on my Vista desktop and even print from the printer. However the reverse is
not true. I cannot access my XP laptop's shared folders from my Vista
desktop. Each time I try I get prompted for a user ID and password.

I do require a password to log in to my laptop but that password doesn't
work. Nothing I try works. Any ideas?

You need to enter the credentials for a user on one of your computers.
When the connect box opens, for the username, enter the username on the
laptop, as
laptop name\username
password

Or, I think it will work if you enter your username and password of your
Vista computer, also.
vista computer name\username
password

At least, this works for me.

If you're trying to access a computer running XP Home, you have to activate the
Guest account, on that computer, for network access.
