Cannot access "script" font in paint or word processor application

I have Windows XP Home edition and in the fonts menu there is a lovely font
called "script" that I would like to use. However, I cannot get this font to
display. It is not listed in any of the drop-down font menu's in any
application (such as word or paint) and when I try to open it directly from
the windows fonts screen, it only opens in wordpad or notepad and is totally
illegible. I would ideally like to use this font in both paint and word
processor. If I try to open it using another application (like paint), it
says that " Paint cannot read this file. It is not a valid bitmap file or the
format is not currently supported". It is an "All resolutions" font, rather
than a "True type" font and I don't know if this has anything to do with the
problem. How do I access this font????? Any suggestions would be most
appreciated!

It has everything to do with it. What you're referring to is a Windows system
font. Windows system fonts are for use by the system only and cannot be
utilised by standard applications. For more information, please post your
question in comp.fonts.
