Cannot access my desktop from my laptop

Hi,
I have a laptop with a usb wireless card and I cannot remotely access my
desktop from it. I can go online but I cant do remote access. But if i use
wi-fi connectivity that is in built in my laptop, I can do remote access with
desktop. Ip address of desktop: 192.168.0.... and laptop is 70. .....
Any help appreciated.

Is your laptop and desktop on the same network - by that - I mean connected
to the same router?
If you are trying to use your laptop to connect to your desktop from outside
the same network (router) - have you configured the roiuter connected to
your desktop to forward port 3389 appropriately to your desktop?
