Cannot access GPO remotely . .

G

Hullo all . .
I have a small network consisting of a Windows 2000 server and ten XP
machines. I recently promoted the server to an AD with the appropriate DNS
server installed. Everything is working fine except for my being able to
access the GPOs on my client machine. I can edit the GPOs directly on the
server fine so I know it's not an authentication issue since I'm logging on
as the same user. I checked the KB article about missing folders and found
that my folder structure is intact and valid and as I said before I can edit
the GPOs fine directly on the machine. However, I still get the:
"GROUP POLICY ERROR - Failed to open the Group
Policy Object. You may not have appropriate rights.
Details: The system connot find the path specified."
error whenever I try editing any of the GPOs including the default domain
policy. The error occurs when I use the GPMC as well as the FAZAM 2000 RVF
program. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -G.

Hi Grey

It could be that the folder structure of the policy is missing
253268 Group Policy Error Message When Appropriate Sysvol Contents Are
Missing
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=253268

Or it could be that user rights are locked down in particular
access this computer from the network
bypass traverse checking

Check these in the default domain controller policy.
Make sure that everyone, administrators, and authenticated users are in
both of these policies

If not add them and reboot or refresh the policy using
secedit /refreshpolicy machine_policy /enforce
