CandyPress

Okay, okay. I think I'm gonna do it! But...Anyone know where I can find
guidance on how to set up the access DB to work with Candypress? I've
searched their entire site, high and low, to no avail. I am EXTREMELY new to
all of this, but I am also extremely upset with my current cart program.
I will be starting a complete web page overhaul this week, and I would love
to get the Access DB started and operational!
(Or...will it create it for me?!?!?!)

Thanks!
Kimberly

Since my computer has crashed and won't be home till Thursday, I am
forwarding all email to work. Feel free to email me at
(e-mail address removed), and I should receive it within 5 minutes.

I saw in a google search that they also use SQL server...which I will have
with 1and1 very shortly...
Would that be easier for a novice?

Start out with Access, then you can switch to MS SQL Server.

you can easily use the access (.mdb) database with FrontPage:
just get the folder(s) of candypress or any app into your site, hit tools/
web settings/ database tab, click browse find the .mdb in question, then add
it, verify it and publish it all up.

the ability to mark the db for reading and writing so easily is one of my
favorite features in FrontPage. it makes it a lead pipe cinch to deploy any
of a myriad of database apps using FrontPage.

The Access database should be included with the application when you download it and install it.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
I am still learning html and page design, and the thaught of figuring out
access along with it is absolutely petrifying!!!

Do you know of anyone that I might be able to email if I have problems or
questions with the program? With the comp in the shop, I won't be able to
begin this project until Saturday at the earliest, so I'm not really sure
what I'm in for...

Thanks Chris!
One more question. Will I be able to add text to what CP creates?
For example: they have the 'shopping cart' page that is individual for each
person. I only accept paypal at this time, and they process all of my credit
card payments. I would like to add about two lines of text explaining that
no membership is required, simply click XXX link to checkout.
Is that do-able?

sure it's no problem. there is a field in the admin section where you can
put "cart text" where it'll write your message on the "cart" pages.
