Cancel print jobs not working

I am trying to print, I have an old print job which refuses to cancel. I
have tried going to the services menu, and going to the print spooler as per
a couple of the replies on the site but to no avail. I have also tried to
delete the programme to reinstall but it won't let me, Any ideas anyone

Insert a scrap piece of paper in the printer. Attempt to cancel the job
as it is printing. If you were on the Internet when you started the print
job, go back online then cancel it. Make sure the printer is online.
