I have a network setup between 2 XP based machines. Both computers are
connected into a network switch which intern is connected to the internet
via a router/modem. The problem which i'm having is when the network is left
on over night and i return the next morning or when left with no activity
for over 2 hours or so it won't access the network or the internet. when
clicking on the LAN icon in the taskbar it says it's still connected. The
only way to re-connect the network and gain access to the internet is to
right click on the LAN icon and 'repair' the connection OR to shut down one
of the computers which seems to fix the problem. I had the same setup
working on 98se based machines with no trouble at all!!!
Is there some sort of power down or saving mode which carry's on dropping
the connection or have i got a setting miss configured?? My ISP is Pipex but
i don't think that they are the problem. It looks as though that it is a XP
configuration which is incorrect.
If any one can shine any light on this issue i would be greatly pleased and
would thank you greatly.
