Can you save a document so that no modifications can be made?

With the read-only option, you can open the document, change the document and
print it out, but you cannot save it. I would like to know if there is a way
to save a document so that no one other than the author can make
modifications to it. Thank you.

Select Tools/Options in the menu and then click the SAVE tab. You can add a
password to modify the document. Then, when a user opens it they can provide
the modification password or open a read only copy.

Note that this does not prevent the user from opening the document as read
only, saving under a different name, and then renaming to the original name.

The short answer is no. Any document you allow someone to see can be copied
and edited, no matter what you do with the original. It may not be the
original document but it would appear so.

No. You can make it difficult, but you can't make it impossible. Anything
that can be read can be copied; anything that can be copied can be altered.

One of the simpler ways to make it difficult is to protect as a form with a
password. Another is to convert it to a .pdf file.

What the others say is quite correct. However, if you change the question
slightly, you get another option...

It is not possible to prevent another user from "changing" the document.
But it IS possible to detect the fact if they have done so.

Look up "Digital Signatures" in the Help for more information.

Cheers
