Can you move hidden files w/o them being shown?

Somebody told me that you have to have hidden files shown to move them. I
thought that if they were in a parent folder and you moved the folder all hidden
and unhidden files would be moved with them. Which is correct?

It depends on what you move the files with.

XCopy will move them if you tell it to....

I'm using the standard Copy and Paste in Windows 2000 Pro with latest updates.
Should it move hidden folders if they are not displayed but they are in a parent
folder which I am moving?

If you are actually in the folder with the files you want to copy, and you
select all files then do a copy/paste to the new location, the hidden
files/folders will NOT be copied. However, if you were to copy/paste the
parent folder the hidden files/folders will be copied.
