Can you link an contact to many accounts/companies? So say I have an contact
named Joe Smith and he works for two companies, would it be possible to
associate these two companies to him?

No. You'll have to use a different application with that feature.
 
No, one of the limitations of BCM is that a contact can belong to only one
account.
