Can you dial a number from with IE 6

I'm looking for ways to click on a telephone field in IE 6 (this is a
customer web based database I use) and for that to dial the number through a
modem.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, I'm looking for applications
that embed themselves within IE and recognise telephone fields. Skype has
such an application but it uses the internet to make the calls and I want to
use a normal modem and landline telephone.

You could try NetMeeting (search MSN for web scripting examples). I have
seen other products out there but they are proprietory. NetMeeting is freely
available with windows but has been superseeded with MSMessenger.
