I am looking to close specific ports in Windows XP Pro for the internet. Where do I do it in XP pro and can I just do it in the xp SP2?

Yes and Yes.

In SP1, open up the network connections folder and right click your NIC. Go
to the properties menu, and from there, click the Advanced tab. I believe
there is a button called Settings that you need to click to see what ports
are opened if you have ICF enabled.

In XPSP2, you can do this via a control panel applet for the new firewall.

I hope this helps.

Perhaps OT, but why not just enable your firewall or get a third party one
to control/block access from the Internet?

Hey thanks for the help I did see in sp2 where you add ports in the exceptions tab in the firewall this will add the port to open it through the firewall. I thought there was a place where you can config to close the ports. Thanks again and I can use all the help I can get.
