Can we use Access 2000 and 2003 with a Split Database ??

On our small Windows XP peer-to-peer network 4 pc's have Access 2003. One
has Access 2000.

On the 2000 machine we are keying data into a small single table database.

We want to split the database so others can access it while the data-entry
person continues to enter data.

I didn't see a 'split database' option under Tools for Access 2000.

Can I move it to another machine with Access 2003 and split it... then put
the back end on our network drive... then put a copy of the front end on the
2000 machine... and the others?

Or does Access 2000 have a problem with split databases?

Thanks for any help.

A2K had a tool for splitting databases, but I don't remember where to locate
it. Try looking under Tools, Add-Ins.

As long as you keep the database in Access 2000 format, splitting it on a
Access 2003 machine should work just fine. Just to be safe, make a backup
before splitting.

Hmmm... I'm confused...

You said... "Just make a new database on the 2000 machine and link to the
2003 table"

To get an Access 2003 table I will have to split the database on one of our
Access 2003 machines...

So then I would have an Access 2003 front end and an Access 2003 backend...

So then how would I create an Acess 2000 front end for the single Acess 2000
machine on our network?

Thanks for all the help guys.
