Can we stop the warning message when deleting shortcuts on the des

Like most people, I end up with shortcuts all over my desktop when installing
programs. Every time we delete them, we get the same warning message that it
only deletes the shortcut and not the program. Usually, this type of warning
allows us to check a box to prevent the warning from poping up in the future.
however, this has never been an option in previous versions of Windows.

Does anyone know if we can prevent this warning message from reappearing
when deleting shortcuts? It would be a great feature since not every windows
user is an idiot who doesn't notice the little shortcut arrow on the icon or
pay attention to what they are deleting... Thanks.

If it is possible, I am not aware of it.

However the better solution is during the program installation,
uncheck the box to place an icon on the desktop.
I use that option when available which is most of the time.

Hi,

I'm on XP right now and do not know if this will work on Vista, but right
click on the Recycled Bin icon and select Properties. Uncheck "Display
delete confirmation dialog" and the message will no longer appear on any
program icon nor one you create your self.

Thank you!

That does work in Vista too, when I tested trashing a shortcut, it was
warning free! Great suggestion.
