I found myself downgrading my computer - my other one died and this one was
free! It's a Compaq Deskpro 2000, 133MHz, 32mb RAM. Do you think it can
handle Excel 2000?

Yeah, the computer can probably handle Excel 2000, but it will be
SLLLLOOOOWWW. What OS are you going to run on it?

Running under Windows 95 or NT4 it may be bearable. Running under any
more recent and memory gorging version of Windows it may be possible
but it'll be very unpleasant.

i would reccomend never installing excel on any machine regardless or
hardware or software available.

use a DATABASE or a REPORTING PROGRAM instead of recreating the same
report by hand week in and week out

Where did the OP say he was he was using Excel to create reports? If
this were a work PC, don't you think (well, no, *YOU* don't, but I'll
stick to this rhetorical construct) the OP's IT department would
provide a machine newer than 8 years old?

It's very likely this is for the OP's own use. There are reasons for
sane people to use spreadsheets for personal use. There are darned few
people who'd waste their own time producing personal reports. You may,
but you're begging for institutionalization.

And you're beginning to waste as much time posting the same insipid
drivel week in and week out that you accuse Excel users of doing. Learn
to make an intelligent argument for a change!

all you excel guys use excel to create the same report week in and week
out

try to get some real work done; learn databases kiddies

Another witty comeback, completely devoid of any thought or revlevance
to the thread's topic.

We apologise for Aaron Kemp's entries into these news groups. We are
trying to keep him sedated but ever since DOS became outdated he's
never been the same.

As part of his treatment we are teaching him to count on his fingers -
he now gets to 21 without getting too confused.

We don't allow him access (oops) to any sharp objects, such as knives,
so please don't send him any more.

Once again, our "sincere" apologies.
