can scan documents in color but windows doc w/red font print out b

I have an HP1500xi printer, and have Windows XP Professional. Changed
cartridges today.This is a new problem. Scans will print out in color,
however a spreadsheet with "red" font, print out in black and white. I have
cleaned, tested, and run all suggestions by HP. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
 
There is an advance print option that allows you to print only in grey
scale, sure you havnt inadvertantly set this?
 
1)If you use a new spreadsheet, with some coloured test data, does it print
correctly?
2)and if you create a new word doc with coloured font does this print
correctly?
3)and using word pad, with coloured font does this print OK?
