HP Color Laser Jet 1600 red cartridge problem

Hello everyone
My problems started when I bought a new RED cartridge, I replaced it
and the print was pink instead red.I had to replace it with another
new one and then a third one.No change.
They all were HP original. We sent the printer to their
laboratories. It cost 250$ to fix it.
We did not allowed of course. Now it prints other colors except red
ones. we have to print all in black. I've tried another red cartridge
that works well in an other printer.
I've heard about the same problem that time with other printers. Could
it be a series
of damaged red cartridges? Any suggestion how to save another 350$
for a new printer?
Thanks for any info.

Found an excellent PDF on the problem entitled "Fading Red Tones on
Color Laser Jets 2600" which includes the 1600 & 2605 that have same
problem.

Link I found it on at HP forums last month vanished (still shows up in
Google Searches) but searching on "Don Thompson's Service Seminars" led
me to a functioning link at http://tinyurl.com/36as8xy Make sure to
save the copy in case the link goes away too.

Not for the faint of heart, good luck!

Thanks Tony so much for your replay!
This mail is ok. I believe that this is the
problem but it started with a new cartridge.
Anyway- I will be glad to receive your instructions
It might work - if not I have to buy anyway a new one
but it won't be HP any more

I also had the same problem but on completion of the cleaning and after
careful re-assembly I get the message Door Open and I cannot print
anything can you suggest anything?

Just picked up on this thread as I have this same engine in my HP.

Could some one please post the article please as its not available on
any of the news groups.

Thanks
