can ping by IP, cannot ping by name

After one of our employess left work we found that we cannot ping his
win2000-server.
We can ping it by ip-address, not by the servername.
We can connect to it remote only by ip-address not by servername.

Why?

Name resolution problem. Check your DNS setup.
Are you using MS AD Dynamic DNS? If yes then check that the client in
question is set to Auto Register.
If not a AD Dynamic DNS then manually enter an A record for the host in
Question.
