Can Outlook 2003 archives still become corrupted?

I know that large archives were a nightmare back in the day, but with
Outlook 2003 the problem was supposedly fixed and .pst files can grow
safely to 20GB. I don't blame IT support for being wary of such large
archives due to the hellish corruption problems with ANSI .psts, but if
the problem is really fixed... why not let it grow?

Has anyone seen a outlook 2003 native archive get corrupted? from my
understanding its not supposed to.

Not because of its size but it can still corrupt just like any other
database/file on your system.
