Can Outlook 2000/Hotmail/iphone

I currently use Hotmail (the original version, I don't like the new "Live"
whatever version. I just got an iphone and am trying to hook up email. It
appears I have to use Outlook to get my email. The version of Outlook I have
is Outlook 2000....Can I make that pull my Hotmail info and run it to my
iphone?????

thanks. i just signed up for something called izymail and my hotmail now
pulls up on my iphone...seems easy...hope it's safe....
