Can only explore local disk by right-clicking

After double-clicking My Computer, when I double click Local Disk C instead
of being able to see the contents the Search facility opens. I can only
explore the drives by right-clicking. This has only happened in the last
couple of days.

I would be grateful if anyone could explain why this change has occurred.
