Can Not Send Emails

B

Beth

I can not send any emails. I have gone through all of the steps but I still
keep getting this error message:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Monday
Night', Account: 'pop.zoomtown.com', Server: 'smtp.zoomtown.com', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 Recipient (e-mail address removed) does not exist
here', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

I have the same problem and it's driving me distracted! Can someone please
help us?!!

There are two possible reasons for that error.

1. Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication" must be checked.

2. If no improvement, it means the smtp.zoomtown.com server
doesn't want to 'relay' for you because you are connecting from
some other Internet connection. What company was providing the
Internet connection when you got that error?

ValleyVegan

My internet supplier is Netspace. I tried what you suggested and the box
for "My server requires authentication" was already checked. Is there
anything else you can suggest? Thanks.

I just logged on to my internet provider's website, and my credit card
expiry date had not been updated, and I think that's why they were
restricting my email use. I adjusted it and 10 mins later I was able to send
emails. Hope that helps you Beth. =)

It is seldom productive to try the fix that has been given for someone
else's problem. Unless you have a lot of tech savvy, it is best to leave
the troubleshooting to the experts. Our help is free, why not use it?

The server names depend on who the mail service provider is.
What is the part of your email address after the @ symbol?

K

kmsswf

It is your email I am trying to get thru my phone. I have dejazz.com as
provider and had my nephew switch my emails over to mcirosoft to gain more
email space, now cannot get any emails thru iphone and had prior to switching
to microsoft mail so need to know this companies pop and smtp please! thanks,

"Your email" does not pin it down. Please be specific. Do you mean one of
the free email addresses sponsored by Microsoft, such as @hotmail.com,
@live.com or @msn.com? If so, follow these instructions:
http://mailcall.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!CC9301187A51FE33!49799.entry
Use port 587 rather than port 25 for the SMTP server.

Windows Mail's new account wizard is hard-coded to reject Hotmail
and MSN addresses. So, when you enter your email address initially,
use a fake one, such as (e-mail address removed). After the account setup is
complete, go back and correct your email address.

I still have not rec'd answer to my question. For heaven sakes this cannot
be this hard. I have switched to Microsoft Windows mail...it is NOT any of
those that you gave answer for. I just need to know how to get my emails to
my iphone now that I use your email, prior to switching to Microsoft Windows
mail I could get my mail to iphone via my internet provider dejazzd.com.
This is who I still have the account with. Is there a human I can talk to.
This system to get my emails answered is frustrating!

GaRY:
iF YOU WOULD HAVE READ MY EMAILS THEY indicate dejazzd as server indeed. I
need someone to talk to - you are NOTTTTTTTTT understanding my questions!
Please advise.......asap./......kms

None of us can understand your problem, as you have failed to describe it
sufficiently.

Are you accessing your email account with Windows Mail?
Do you also want to access it using your iPhone?
Are you trying to synch your iPhone with Windows Mail? Can't be done..

And 99% of us do not work for MSFT. This is a peer to peer support group.

G

Gary VanderMolen

If I'm not understanding your problem, then you are not describing it accurately.
I've been supporting users with email problems since 1995, so it's not like I
don't know what I'm doing. ;-)

Actually nearly all newsgroups, mailing lists and forums request that anyone
seeking assistance first search for previous answers. So I think this
specific reply was written too hastily. I know you help many people very
much with admirable tolerance and understanding and this might be one hasty
effort in a thousand very useful efforts.

Instead of "someone else's problem" I think it is more meaningful to say a
different problem. It might be difficult for a non-technical person to know
if their problem is the same problem. An important point is to make it clear
that just because the symptoms are the same, it is not certain that the
problem is the same.

I would say that if the solution does not work then the assumption should be
made that the problem is not the same and a new thread should be created for
the problem and the symptoms need to be described as thoroughly as they
would be for a new problem.

It is seldom productive to try the fix that has been given for someone
else's problem. Unless you have a lot of tech savvy, it is best to leave
the troubleshooting to the experts. Our help is free, why not use it?

Here is what a peer of yours, DAVE answered...
"None of us can understand your problem, as you have failed to describe it

I think Dave may have finally answered the dilemma as to why I could get
dejazzd emails via my iphone and once started getting my dejazzd via
microsoft windows email, my iphone could not pick up. I guess the iphone
does not recognize windows email? I attempted several times to simply obtain
the POPS etc for windows email to see if I could set up my iphone without
anyone understanding what I was asking. I did not realize you did not work
for microsoft windows and do not know what POPS I would need to set up the
program in my iphone. I will now attempt to go back to dejazzd or hook up
with google..anything to at long last get full benefit of my iphone email
capability. I apologize if you or your peers did not understand my simple
question. I must be hard to do your job around those who are frustrated like
myself on a day to day basis.
Blessings, kmsswf
