Can not save file to (any) selected file location.

I can not save files that load up in my browser. This has
been the case ever since I downloaded a Windows patch to
fix security problems.

I have to do screen captures, copy/pastes, or drive to
campus to save anything in order to use it as a source.

It's not something stupid like my hard drive is full. I
have uninstalled IE6 and then reinstalled to no avail.
Every other application seems to save fine.

Any help would be wonderfully apprecaited.

Which types of files?

But, first clear your cache.
From IE> Tools> Options> General> Delete Files & Delete offline content.
Also, it's often recommended that the TIF folder size be set at about 50MB
(settings) and cleared occasionally.
