ms updates are failing to install. and since reading this site, i seem to be
missing quite a few things on my computer. i did do a registry clean-up and i
think that is when i started having these problems. been reading all the q &
a on the site (most helpful.. thanks) but i have tried most of the
suggestions but with no luck.
the lastest is i can not perform the command.. start>run>sfc/scannow.
i am also missing files.. D:\i386\WINNTUPG\NETUPGRD.DLL and snmpmib
i do not know what these files are for.
what would happen if i saved EVERYTHING i have on my computer and re-install
the oringnal windows set-up CD.

this is totally pissing me off..

any thoughts would be helpful. thank you

You should only be pissed off at yourself. You ran a registry cleaner -
something it is strongly recommended end users *not* do - and messed up
your computer all by yourself.

Do a Repair Install. If the Repair Install doesn't fix your issues, do a
Clean Install. Format the drive, install Windows, install drivers, programs
from installation media, restore data from backups.

These files are not included on OEM install disks.
Is this a preinstalled OS? D:\ could either be the manufacturers
install partition or your CDROM drive with your install disk.
HKLM>software>microsoft>windows>setup>>>
SourcePath--under data This should point to your install location.
D:\ When this is incorrect sfc will not work.
After many foolish attempts to clean the registry usually followed
by a reinstall, never use _ANY_ registry cleanup utilities.

suggested. i NOW know about cleaning registry keys. didnt know how stupid it
would be. i have given myself a good spanking!! ha ha. will tell you how i
go, if thats ok. thanks again.. have a great week.. xxm
