Hello, we are running Outlook 2002 clients throughout our organization. Our Outlook 2002 users have a need to send and receive (open) shortcuts which are link through assigned tasks. These linked shortcuts our basically emails which our located in the public folders, and need to be linked with shortcuts because multiple people change them and changes need to be centralized. However Outlook 2002 does not let you access these shortcuts located in the assigned tasks.

I have found documentation stating that Outlook 2000 does not support this functionality, but not Outlook 2002.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302745

Is there a work-around for this in Outlook 2002, maybe a registry hack, or security switch?

We need to be able to click a shortcut in an assigned task and have it open up the associated file/email.

The workaround is to use a text link instead of a shortcut; see

Yes, you can use a text link for that. Did you look at the page I suggested?

Sue,

Thank you for the response. I think I left out one important piece of
info. The item that I want to create a shortcut to in the assigned task is
an email located in the public folders which contains a custom form.
I'm not sure if you can use a text link, it does not look like it. Is
there anything else you can think of? Once again, thank you.
