can not exit excel clicking on the X

For some reason, on one of our computers in Excel 2000, the X in th
right hand corner is grayed out and I can not click on it to exit.
have to go to File and Close. I reinstalled the Office 2000, and it i
still doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
