Can not delete tmp file from desktop

I am running Vista Home Premium (and often long for XP). I have UAC turned
off. Excel XP put a temp file on the desktop but I can not delete it. I went
to Advanced Security settings to change ownership. The current owner is
"Unable to display current owner." and I can not edit to give me ownership.

Can someone please offer a way for me to delete this file? I don't want my
desktop to become cluttered with a bunch of useless file icons.

Thanks for any help!

Hi,
It is probably already deleted. Try a screen refresh. If that doesn't do
it, then log off and back on. Worst case a reboot.

Hi PaulB,

Thanks for your reply. You were correct as as reboot took care of it. I was
puzzled by fact that the date of file was March, 2009. I would have thought
it would have been given a later date. The date is about the time the XLS
file was first originated.

Thanks again.

p.s. When I check the Notify me box I receive an email of the response.
However when clicking on the link it always goes to a blank screen at MS.
What am I doing wrong? It happens on both IE7 and FireFox.
