Can not delete files

I get an error message (Outlook.exe has generated errors and will be closed
by windows) when I try to empty my deleted files. I can not open or click on
any of my e-mails in the deleted file with out Outlook closing ...
Any suggestions.

Have you tried running ScanPST.EXE on your PST file to see if it's damaged?

I am a novice here ... what is a ScanPST.exe and PST file. I have tried to do
a repair from the Office 2000 SRI disk, but that didn't work.
Do I "Run:scanPST.exe" from my "Start ... Run"

In My Computer you should find ScanPST.EXE in this directory:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033

Double click on it and direct it to your PST file which should be in this
directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

The name of the file may vary but it'll have a .PST extension
