Can not create DFS root

When I was creating a DFS root on a member server on an
existing domain, the error message is as follows,
"either the domain server is not existing or the domain
cannot be contacted ". what could be the problem in my
setup.

I dont' have any problem when I create a DFS root on a
newly installed domain controller in a new domain but can
not create at the existing domain. The same is a problem
on other memeber servers of this existing domain.
Appreciate very much if you could share any idea about
this problem.
