Get timeout when trying to connect to URL using name or ip
with IE 6.0. Internet works fine with Netscape. From DOS
window can ping these web sites, but never reaches with IE
Browser. Connections settings are set to use LAN with
Automatic Detection. I have cable modem access. I
deinstalled IE 6 and reinstalled from a Microsoft CD and
same problem occurs. Is there something in the registry I
need to modify? IE work fine opening local file but can
not access internet network stuff. Device Manager looks
fine under Network Adapters (using a Realtek RTL8139). Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps you have a browser hijacker or some other form of spyware that
is preventing IE from connecting but not Netscape. Try removing spyware
with Spybot Search & Destroy from www.security.kolla.de and Ad-aware
from www.lavasoftusa.com. Did that solve the problem? If not, please
post back.
