Can not change font for footer

Hi,

Using MS Word 2002, Win XP.

I have a footer "1 of 4"... The body of by doc is "book antiqua" . I
want the footer to be the same font. But no matter how I try to save
it, the footer reverts back to "New time roman". I select footer in
the dropdown style menu and book antiqua in the font menu and save
repeatedly but it won't stick. How do I fix this?
