Can no longer run Modem Diagnostic and...

I can no longer run the modem diagnostic or open the telephone and modem icon
under the control panel page. When I try to run the diagnostic the hardware
profile window disappears(crashes) without an error. If I try to open the
telephone and modem icon it does nothing(sits there without hour glass and
opens nothing)

Any thoughts would be great

Remove and reinstall your modem driver.
