So you can view sites that have been specifically coded for IE6.

Firefox or even IE7 sometimes render sites quite differently from IE6.
Firefox, Opera, IE7, and many other browsers render sites closer to the
generally accepted standards than IE6.

A very small number of web sites are W3C compliant.
Not using IE will lock you out of a lot fewer sites than Mozilla or any of
the others. IE is much more forgiving of html errors than any other
browser, which is sometimes a plus, sometimes a minus. But the comment that
FF can render more sites than IE is just plain bunk and made up by the autor
because he wants it to be so. It's not.\
