can IE6 pretend it is a Firefox?

Hi all,

I really liked Firefox... until I use Firefox 1.5.0.1...

Now I like IE6 more.

However, IE6 does not allow change font size arbitrarily using CTRL+ and
CTRL-.

I am comfortable with large fonts when reading online...

Can IE6 pretend it is a Firefox and let me change the font size arbitrarily?

I know you are going to say: I can use the menu item under "View" -> "Text
Size", then select from "large, small, etc." 5 choices of text sizes.

But I found that for some website, changing these 5 text sizes does not
change the displayed font appearance at all, which the same webpage, can be
displayed on Firefox using arbitrarily adjusted font size...

---------------------------------------------

Two greatest issues:

1. It now has more chance to crash than the IE explorer, though IE still
looks cubersome than Firefox... but unbelievably it now has more statibilty
than Fireforx.

2. Its copy/paste always sucked. I could not copy and paste in Firefox.
Occasionally it worked. But most times it never worked. Esp. when you want
to combine it when using with Microsoft Remote Desktop, our daily tool for
transporting data between home and office, the copy and paste in Firefox
never worked. (when I copy and paste using Notepad, etc. along with MS RDP,
it always worked).

Any cures? I have been frustrated about these two problems for long time and
now I got time to hunt for solutions! I may have to give up Firefox.

Thanks a lot!

It is a known feature(/bug) that IE does not allow scaling of font-sizes
given in the unit 'px' - this is probably what you are experiencing...

I have never heard of any way to fix this (other than emailing the site and
telling the webmaster that he should not be using px, because it hinders
accessibility in IE)

Hi networm :)

If you have a wheel on your mouse, hold down the Ctrl key and move the
wheel. This may get your fonts back to the size you want when you want.

Hope this helps.

I believe that IE7 is more capable than IE6 in this regard.

Hi Networm,

Sorry for the late post.

To allow you to choose the font size on all web pages (with text size menu
option) open the Internet Options control panel and on the General tab
select the Accessibility button, then check 'Ignore font sizes specified on
Web pages'

Regards.
