The name Journal here is a misnomer - its function is to keep a record of
emails, phone calls, meetings etc associated with a particular contact, not
as a day-to-day written record of your doings....

There is certainly no reason the Journal cannot be used as a personal, daily diary. Just create one or more entries for each day.
