I recently bought the FrontPage 2003 Upgrade version for my new Dell PC that
runs Windows XP and came with MS Office 2003 Small Business Edition installed.
(The installation was a bit of a trauma since it demanded that I provide the
installation CD for either Office 97, Office 2000, or Office 2002--NOT my
older version of FrontPage 2002, as one would expect!)
I had installed FrontPage 2002 on this new computer but I was having
difficulties with my Office product updates because I had this older version
of FrontPage (compatible with Office XP). I decided to get the newer version
2003 of FrontPage and removed FrontPage 2002 from my new computer.
After installing the version 2003 upgrade, I wanted to install FrontPage
2002 on my husband's (and my) older Dell computer that has Office XP
installed (also running Windows XP as the OS).
When I tried to activate the older version 2002 of FrontPage on the other
computer (it is the only computer that now has that version installed) I was
told that the product was already activated on another computer. It would not
allow me to activate it on my husband's computer.
Since we both own the computers, why can I not use the newer FrontPage 2003
on my computer and the older version 2002 on my husband's computer? Neither
software program is in use on any other computer and only one of us can use
each product at a time. I tried to find a way to contact Microsoft to get an
answer but I see that I must pay a fat fee just to talk to someone.
Is this hopeless? Is there a way that I can get this older version 2002 of
FrontPage activated?
I am getting seriously disgusted with Microsoft.
