Can I use a hyperlink within an {if} field?

I've got a lengthy document I've produced for two purposes. The core is the
same with {if} fields varying the content where necessary. This generally
works fine but for hyperlinks within the {if} field. For example {IF a=b
{HYPERLINK"path"} {HYPERLINK"path"}} shows the relevant path, but it is not
clickable.

Using Word 2002 on XP.

I don't know about this one off the top of my head but some fields don't
seem to work when nested inside IFs. Try turning it inside out ...

{ HYPERLINK { IF a=b path2 path2 } }

... and see if it helps.

Nope. Hyperlink field defaults to whatever path is currently tests as true.
Not so sure there really is a solution. Thanks for your help though.
