Can I return to a replaced document?

I wrote a long document, then when I was saving a different document I got
the two mixed up. I saved the second document as the name of the first, and
when Word asked me if I wanted to replace the original one, I clicked Yes.
Can I retrieve the lost document?

Probably not unless you have a backup. You *may* be able to recover it with
File recovery software such as Easy Recovery Professional, or you could pay
a specialist to recover it - at probably great cost.

I had the same problem. I found the document, yet I can not open it. I did
this 20 minutes before my essay was due. i want to know is there anyway of
reversing the file that I found?

If you ignored the warning that you were going to overwrite a file, then it
is gone.

WHAT I HAD TO DO WAS DOWNLOAD A DOCUMENT RECOVERY SOFTWARE: DISKINTERNALS
WORD RECOVERY. I DIDN'T BUY THE FULL VERSION SINCE I WAS ABLE TO SEE THE
WORD DOCUMENT. THERE'S NO COPY AND PASTE SO I HAD TO SWITCH WINDOWS AND
RETYPE. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT CAN AFFORD TO BUY THE FULL VERSION, IT IS A
VERY GREAT TOOL TO HAVE FOR TIMES LIKE THIS. WWW.DISKINTERNALS.COM

I accidently save a file over with an exactly one month older version -
ARGGH! I did whole drive searchs for .wbk, .asd, .tmp and ~*.* with no luck.
I was in total dispair until I tried the DiskInternal demo SHameka
recommended. It found a version of my file somewhere that had been saved the
day BEFORE the mistake.

Like SHameka I can not afford the $80 price tag for even the WORD only
version so I'm reduced to comparing (since their program lets you see the
recovered file) and retyping, but that is far better than losing 1 months
work. THANK YOU!
