Can I retrieve an unsaved document

I know the answer will probably be no but here goes. I was a piece on word
and my boyfriend for some reason decided to turn my computer off. He said
that it asked him to save it but it didnt because Ive looked everywhere. If I
havent saved it is there anyway I can retrieve it?

Kind Regards

If the document was not saved, it cannot be recovered
since it no longer exists.

You can try to do a SEARCH from Windows Explorer using extended
criteria, specifying the date the file was created or changed, then
review the hits and see if one of them is what you need.

didnt want to lose.

I don't know if this still works, but when this happened on my old pc I used
to just pull the plug out and a rescued version of my file would often
appear on the desktop after restarting - bit of a drastic method though!

Later or more recent versions of Word have a "Recovery" feature.
When you reopen the Office application, the Task Pane should have
a Recovery option. The following article describes the process:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/xp/columns/itcolumn05.asp
(The pertinent content is a couple of paragraphs down).

Pulling-the-Plug (AC) on a running PC is never a good idea. Abrupt
shut offs can cause disk drive corruption or possibly an unbootable
PC.

Carey should be thanking YOU for giving him an easy question to reply
to.

He's at his best with questions like you asked.

The usefulenss of is replies degrade significantly from that point on.
